Palm Trees and the Snow

Guest Room View

Imagine waking up and looking over at the window and you see that beautiful cathedral. I don’t think it is fair; the best view in our house, and quite possibly Ely, is from our guestroom. This is the view that will welcome you when you go to bed and wakeup when come visit us. We have a good view of it from the other rooms, but just not as nice. We reserve the best view for our guests!

Front View of our House

This last week has been a really busy one for us. It has been full of appointments, doctor and dentist visits for annual checkups, and getting ourselves settled in the area. We finally purchased a car! It’s a 1998 BMW 528i. It is a little older than we initially were looking for but it is amazing shape and got it for a really good price. We do not pick it up until Friday. The dealer is going to service and detail it for us.

Backyard, Shed, and Garage

The weather around here has been pretty crazy. We were expecting to have to deal with a lot of cold rain, but we really haven’t seen any. It has snowed off and on since we got here and rained one day, but really hasn’t been too bad. Andrea had her first experience driving at night. Your first time is really a unique experience. Since you drive on the left side of the road here your brain keeps telling you every car approaching is in your lane. It kind of freaks you out. Andrea did great and got us to Ely and back in one piece. Once Andrea’s Saab gets here, it is going to be weird switching between a right side drive UK spec car and a left side drive US spec car.

Andrea trying to stay warm in the backyard.  Notice the palm tree.

I’m posting more pictures of our house. We met the rental agency on Tuesday so we could take some measurements so we can start looking for some furniture. Notice that our refrigerator and freeze are small and side by side. It isn’t much bigger than my beer fridge in Spokane. We have two palm trees in our yard! A little weird considering the weather is cold and temperate most of the year. You can see one of them in our backyard, notice the frost. Well that is about it. Enjoy the pictures and start planning your trips so you can take advantage of the view.

  1. Love your house, it looks so cute from the outside, and I can't believe how big it is. What a tiny fridge & freezer though...hopefully you can walk to the market for fresh stuffs. We're looking into a visit to that guest room during September, I need to put in for my time off soon.
    Happy 2010 you two!

  2. Hi Tyler and Andrea. Miss you guys! Cute house. Its big! When does your stuff arrive from the ship or has it already? Can't wait to come visit. Won't be till 2011 since we are going to Hawaii for our vacation this year. I've been wanting to skype (spell?) you guys but it has to be done in the morning here, so I have to do it on a weekend and when Andrew is home so we can use his lap top. Hope to talk with you soon. Love ya, your sis Michelle
